Brazil. The Fazenda Boa Sorte is a reforestation project of degraded land in the Brazilian state of Mina Gerais. It follows the highgest standards of biodiversity protection and community development and sustainability.
The project is a reforestation programme in several stages that will be certified following the CarbonFix standard. The reforestation in the Fazenda Boa Sorte has been carried out using five main varieties of trees indignenous to the Atlantic rainforest: Eucalyptus Vrograndis (Lyptus), Terminalia Ivorensis, Australian (Red) cedar, Guanandi and Teak. At present, a total of 74,560 trees have been planted over a surface area of 46 ha, and the potential of the estate is to achieve a reforestation for a total of 250,000 trees in an area of 150 ha.

The estate contains an area of 40 ha of Atlantic Rainforest, and a 10 ha preservation area for the permanent protection of fauna and flora. An approximate 150 ha are suitable and approved for reforestation.

The Project Developer works closely with the Environment Agency for the state of Mina Gerais (IEF) to ensure and excel the best standards of practice and community benefits.
